Employment lawyers in North Shields

Brown Holliday & Clements advises and represents both employers and employees when completing employment contracts and when facing employment disputes. The firm has practical experience of concerns and objectives faced by both sides when entering into employment contracts and where difficulties arise in the workplace.

Termination of employment

Where the employment relationship is coming to an end, we regularly advise on settlement agreements, also historically known as compromise agreements. Where compromise is not possible, we have a reputation for a tenacious approach to any dispute and we can advise in relation to claims brought in the employment tribunal such as unfair dismissal, redundancy, wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal.

Employment law advice and services

  • Employment contracts – whilst all employment contracts will contain the basic components such as salary, job description and holidays, there are also many more complex areas involved in drafting employment contracts. These should be approached from a commercial business perspective, in particular relating to employee rights and employer duties, which require enhanced consideration and specialist advice. We have expertise and experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiation of complex employment contracts and policies including director and senior employee contracts, bonus schemes, share incentive plans and bespoke restrictive covenants.
  • Disciplinary and performance issues – most employers will at some point encounter situations where it is necessary to consider taking action to address unacceptable behaviour of employees, including performance or absence. In such cases, it is essential to ensure that fair, correct and consistent processes are followed. This will also include fairly and properly investigating any grievances or allegations.  Some employers feel the best and safest way to deal with this is to obtain independent legal assistance.
  • Discrimination claims – whether sex, race, religion or disability.

Our specialist solicitors can help with both UK and international legal issues.
